| This picture was sent to The Raptor shortly
after the terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001. I do not
know if it was taken on 9/12/2001, but I am thinking it
was taken very near to that fateful day.
The smoke can be seen rising from the rubble, and I find
it compelling how close the WTC was to the Hudson
River? I do recall that it may be possible to zoom
into the photo.
September 11th, 2001 was a beautiful sunny day in Erie,
PA. The Raptor was at his place of work, not
necessarily doing much. At the point about a couple
of minutes after the first tower was struck by a plane,
The Raptor's brother came into the showroom and said
"Do you have cable?" He turned the channel from
say, ESPN to MSNBC and we all watched in silent amazement
as the next plane hit the other tower.
For the remainder of the day, we saw the destruction at
the Pentagon, the crash site in Western Pennsylvania and
the general chaos that ensued.
What a terrible day. Still etched in The Raptor's
mind, now and for as long as I remain vertical.
