Back Story – 2011 has been the worst of times and the best of times.. The WWGC All American Stars and Stripes Toonament  Results - Originally Posted 07/07/2011

Monday July 4th, 2011 saw the conducting of the largest ever Toonament at WWGC...47 players began the event and this tally far eclipsed the count of 35 players who played in the Memorial Day event...here are some Back Story Notes...

Pace of play was an issue as the WWGC staff had several "public" foursome and one fivesome mixed in with the Toonament participants.  While the earliest groups finished in roughly four hours, the groups in the second wave, which began teeing off at 8:20 took five hours to play...this was a very frustrating situation and created a public relations issue with some of the players who vowed not to play in future holiday events.  The course was in decent shape and the weather was very co-operative.  Subsequent to the event, a pro's table was set up under the tent and chilled adult beverages were the order of the day.

Blind Draw Results...Back Story...The Blind Draw calculations were developed as follows...First, the worksheets for the gross and net skins were developed and a sort order was established based on the tee sheet.  The Raptor has assembled the Blind Draw Pills in order to perform the Draw...The Pills are in reality old golf balls (mostly Top Flites) which are numbered in pairs...so for this toonament there were two sets of balls numbered 1-23.

After each number was pulled and the pulled number assigned to the player, a resort of the net skin worksheet was performed and a new line was created for each pair of players in order to determine the Blind Draw score.  The results are interesting...

The Raptor has been wracking my brain trying to come up with a nice backstory/theme for the first WWGC "Toonament of the season.  I had been given a few thoughts on this by others and the worst idea was to some how memorialize the death of super dork...OBL...screw him!...

The Nexus For The Toonament Is The Blue Tees.  If Golfer Elects To Play From White Tees, Player Shall Deduct 2 Handicap Strokes To Qualify For Net Skins  (Therefore, A Golfer With An Established Blue Tee Handicap Of 12 Would Play As A 10 For This Event). If Golfer Elects To Play From Black Tees, Golfer Shall Add 2 Handicap Strokes To Qualify For Net Skins  (Therefore, A Golfer With An Established Blue Tee Handicap Of 2 Would Play As A 4 For This Event).

 

  1. The Closest To Pin In Two Shots On A Par Four Will Be Hole 13

 

  1. For The Two Person Blind Draw The Random Selection Will Be Conducted By The Proshop.

                                                                                        

  1. There Is No Breakfast Ball Rule…If You Screw Up That First Drive Put Another Ball In Play If You Feel It Is Necessary Or…Mark Down A Six, And Laugh About It.
